This coming November, Marylanders will be voting on a constitutional amendment that would enshrine abortion rights into our state constitution. The amendment deliberately uses vague language that removes flexibility from our elected lawmakers to craft laws that serve residents’ needs and interests, such as safeguarding women’s health. The amendment would result in unintended legal consequences, such as undermining existing protections for religious freedom, conscience rights, and the rights of health care providers to practice according to their beliefs.
For these and many other reasons, we are urged to “Vote No on Question 1.” To learn more about the amendment, to ask questions, and to become more informed, You’re invited you to join us on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7p.m. in the Gathering Space Meeting Room, when we host the Maryland Catholic Conference to speak on the amendment.
